Today I’m looking at the site of the Women’s Health Institute of Texas, the site of Dr. Andrew Jones.
One of the most disturbing things about this site is that it belongs to a doctor! Dr. Andrew Jones boldly states “There IS A CURE For Your Migraines.”
What’s his secret? It’s all hormones!
For the record, I HAVE read his ebook. Start to finish. And I’ve discussed it with a couple of doctors whose opinions I value. It’s not total crap; it’s just not what it’s hyped to be. Dr. Jones’s program looks to be a reasonable prevention regimen for anyone with hormonally triggered Migraines. BUT not everyone has hormonal triggers, AND it does not cure the disease.
So, Dr. Jones, why not market this without all the “CURE” hype?
Best wishes,
Arabella

My Neurologist joked with me, saying if I were to get pregnant my migraines would disappear for at least a few months, and that got me thinking hormones must have a lot to do with finding an answer. But every woman is different and the medical field isn’t quite ready for an individual approach to treating patients, but we are heading in that direction. In fantasy it would be interesting if we could somehow trick the body into thinking it’s pregnant
I am here because I was researching the claims of the Women’s Health Institute of Texas (WHIT–hmm). Thank you for your information about them. I think that my +/- 30 years of migraines are hormonal, although now that I’m menopausal they are worse. So he may have something to offer me, but I do resent the snake-oil salesman approach and, from what I read elsewhere, that you essentially pay hundreds of dollars for hormones from a company that is probably his as well. Hmm. Who says you can’t make money on natural remedies?
Love your sight Arabella. Thanks! I went to my gynecologist after reading the WHI website. She told me that my migraines were “possibly caused” by hormonal imbalances and so I started treatment with HRT and thyroid hormones. Although the treatment has helped tremendously with other issues I’ve been having (whoo hoo! no more hot flashes) it has had no effect on the migraines at all. I have had them daily for over 4 months now. They are so dibilitating that I cannot work. Prescription meds…you name it I’ve tried it. But I’m not giving up!
The truth is the key. We can make a difference one person at a time. I would appreciate it if you would add my new blog to your blogroll.
I tried to call these people to see if this is a legitimate site. Nobody in Sweetwater had heard of this place. Has anyone had any thing to do with the book. Is this for real? I am wondering if this is just a front for products and that is it.
Migraines defiantly have something to do with hormones. I used to have 2 to 3 debilitating migraines a month. That was until I got ovarian cancer and had a total hysterectomy.
I believe in supplements to cure disease. I suffered from RA and couldn’t get out of bed. A well known doctor wanted to put me on several drugs including steroids. I didn’t want to take them so I looked for an alternative and found a doctor who deals with homeopathic medicine. He changed my diet and put me on a detox program (including removing my mercury fillings) and I am feeling great!!!!
By the way, the doctor that wanted to put me on all those meds was a Harvard Educated Dr, well known and trusted. When I told him that all I did was change my diet, he insisted that I should still take the meds… I asked “Why will they cure me?” He said “No, just provide relief.” I asked “then why would I take medicine when it won’t cure me, and I no longer have symptoms?”
Hi
I have just ordered the thyroid treatment on the webiste Womens Health Institute Iodine-plus 2 at $117 for 5 bottles of 60 tabs. Apparently they work naturally to get the thyroid working normally, I have an under active thyroid and didnt want to take prescription medicines. I am in the Uk and postage was $16. Does anyone know if this natural treatment works??
please advise if you can.
Many Thanks
Hi
did the thyroid treatment work for you??
I have been on andrew jones programme for 5 months following years of hormonal migraine,, the programme has not helped at all and has cost me a fortune. I had a hystercetomy 2 years ago. My migraine are no better, am now trying to take no hormone relacement and will see what happens.
umm…isn’t that what birth control pills do?
I’ve known people who suffer from migraines, and being on the pill nor being pregnant affected their experience with migraines to their benefit.
My initial comment was in response to Jasmine, regarding “tricking the body into believing it was pregnant” in order to offset migraines.
i am searching the net to see if his PMS cure works … or is a load of rubbish
the snake-oil sales pitch makes him sound like a used car salesman in a white coat
any ideas people ?
has the PMS cure got any value or only good for toilet paper ?
Mark,
Any response on Dr. Jones’s PMS cure? I’m searching and almost desperate enough to try it. But it does seem a bit hokey.
There is NO cure. When a site promotes a “cure,” something is wrong, and I’d never try whatever it is they’re promoting.
Um, people, can’t you tell just from his sales approach and his website alone that he is not legit? I bet he’s not even a doctor. He’s a salesman, and a crappy one at that. He’s the slimy used car salesman selling snake oil.
I was interested in a treatment that claims to work however my daughter has suffered occasional migraines since about 3 years old – hormonal? She’s now 10. I also checked whether the ‘doctor” was registered as an AMA practicioner and the reply came back that he was not known to the AMA. I don’t think I’ll waste my money…
I agree, not all migraines are hormonally caused. I got them as a little girl, and they stopped without any medical intervention. I think for me, they were stress induced (my family was very stressful.)
Addressing Arabella’s comment that there is NO cure… just because no one has hit on it yet doesn’t mean there is no cure. Be hopeful. Biological beings are *extremely* complicated and we’re just lucky when scientists or non-scientists figure out how to manipulate what is happening in our bodies to make us feel better.
I am hopeful, Stacy, but at this point in time, I’m also correct in saying there is NO CURE. One of the purposes of this blog is to expose those who are falsely claiming to have cures NOW.
Please don’t speak to me as if I’m an idiot.
Lynnette,
After your comment, I did a bit of research.
I can’t speak for the AMA, but I can tell you that he has a medical license in the state of Texas. The license number is H1972, and it’s effective until 8/31/2010.
He graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1989.
Best,
Arabella
After experiencing a number of symptoms over a long period of time, ones that seemed unrelated, having an MRI, several cat scans, seeing several different doctors, I discussed my symptoms which no one had correctly identified with my otolaryngologist. He hit the nail on the head with his recommendation. He suggested a holistic approach and that I read the book HEAL YOUR HEADACHE THE 1-2-3 PROGRAM by David Buchholz, M.D. who is affiliated with The John Hopkins University School of Medicine; he has 20+ years experience working with migraine sufferers. Reading that book was like reading my life story-all the seemingly unrelated symptoms. Just reading the book reduced my anxiety immediately. I rank it as one of the two best books I have ever read! Perhaps your local library has a copy. I recommended it to a therapist friend who got a copy from Barnes and Noble. It is published by Workman Publishing; ISBN 0-7611-2566-3 and costs $13.95 in the US. You can also go to http://www.workman.com. Perhaps this will help you too.

That book is ok, but it has some material in it that’s not right. Really. He even says they’re his theories, but multiple studies have proved him wrong on thing such as rebound.
I think “Living Well with Migraine Disease and Headaches” by Teri Robert is far better. You can find it on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0060766859/headacmigrais-20), or in other book stores. Published by HarperCollins. ISNB 0060766859.

I ordered the soft copy book a month ago and am still waiting for it. Got the run around through a couple of emails and now am just not getting any response.
Wouldn’t waste my time with them again – very shonky if you ask me.
Thank you everyone for your comments. After reading the Dr.’s webpage, I too was disgusted by the salesy tactics. However, I am desperate enough that I almost ordered the book anyway. About 3 months ago I went 6 weeks without a headache (usually have 8 per month average) simply by constantly being mindful of how I was feeling and immediately stretching and relaxing when I found myself getting tense. I was surprised how many times I was getting tense and anxious everyday. I did a lot of deep breathing. After that miraculous 6 weeks I went back to my old habits and had the worst one I’ve ever had. I’m thinking I need to work on relaxing again! Hope this helps someone.
